We are pleased to inform you that your application has been approved, along with any dependents listed on your application. Approval is non-transferable. Declining a berth for any member of your household releases that berth for reassignment to another applicant.

You will receive your arrival date window when we receive your Manifests. Plan to leave in approximately three months.

The Jens Andersen is the fifth and final vessel of the EXODUS PROJECT. There will be no subsequent departures. Transit time to the destination system is approximately 125 years.

What the ship provides.

• Every person aged 16 and over will be assigned a work position.

• Children attend school; supplies are provided.

• Uniforms, boots, and a holophone (which also serves as your computer) are issued.

• Casual clothing for adults and all children's clothing are available aboard in limited quantities; fit is not guaranteed. You may keep both the clothing you traveled in to reach the ship and that in your 10 kg clothing bag.

• Housing is furnished and assigned by household size and job position(s). All cabins include beds, closets, a bathroom, and a small kitchen with sink, refrigerator, and combo-oven. Cookware is not provided. The Mess Hall serves meals and supplies groceries to households that prefer to cook. All food aboard is plant-based.

• No animals are carried, including companion animals.

• Medical, dental, and psychiatric care are provided without charge, and the ship maintains a pharmacy.

• Personal hygiene supplies are provided as well as necessities for infants and toddlers.

• The ship carries a library of books, music recordings, and holovideos; a limited selection of toys; musical instruments (strings, winds, and brass, and one grand piano); and a chapel maintained by Religious Services, which also holds community religious items.

• Personal data storage devices are permitted and are not charged against your allowance.

• Personal credits are issued to purchase discretionary goods

• If you have something irreplaceable, consider bringing it yourself.
  

What you may bring.

• Each person is allowed 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of clothing in a soft fabric bag, and one pair of comfortable shoes, worn on your feet.

• Each person is allowed 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of other items, including the weight of their container: sentimental items, antiques, cultural items, reminders of loved ones. The choice is yours. Household allowances for these items may be pooled. Pack them in a single standard airline carry-on, a hard-sided suitcase not exceeding 55 × 40 × 25 centimeters (22 × 16 × 10 inches). Duffel bags, sacks, and taped cardboard boxes are not appropriate containers for the 20-kilogram allowance. Suitable containers are commercially available. After boarding, your container may be kept for storage, traded at the Exchange, or returned to Fabrication for credits.

• A label sheet is enclosed: put two labels on each suitcase, front and back, clear of the opening, and one label somewhere on your clothing bag. Unlabeled or improvised containers will be refused at elevator check-in. Please call the Selection Liaison Officer if you have any questions or problems.

• Suitcases and clothing bags are stowed in the hold of the space elevator climber for the duration of the ascent (several days) and will not be accessible.

• A personal bag not exceeding 5 kilograms (11 pounds) may be carried for medications, documents, and essentials. The bag may be of any type and remains with you during the ascent; its contents are subject to the same inspection as the rest of your baggage.

• Care supplies for infants and small children needed during travel, and one comfort item per child, are not charged against any allowance.

• Items exceeding the dimensional limit may be declared on the enclosed Manifest with a request for exemption. Exemptions are considered for items of cultural, religious, or medical significance and for irreplaceable family heirlooms. Approved items count toward the household allowance at full mass. Decisions of the Selection Office are final.

Your reporting window: 3 August 2183 to 9 August 2183.

• Your Personal Manifest has been received and reviewed. Decisions on exemption requests are attached. Items listed for treatment will be processed at Embarkation. Undeclared items may be refused at Embarkation.

• Your reporting window. Report to the elevator anchorage between the dates above. Arrival windows are assigned to match the ship's outfitting capacity. Your cabin is furnished, and your uniforms and boots will be made to your measurements after you arrive; this is why windows cannot be exchanged. If you cannot report within your window, notify this office immediately.

• Travel. Commercial air will carry you to Kochi, in southern India. From there the Project operates a seaplane service to the anchorage, on the open water where the Maldives stood. Please allow adequate time for travel in case of delays. Lodging at the anchorage is provided. Your cohort boards the climber together when the reporting window closes.

• The ascent takes several days. Your container and clothing bag ride in the hold and will not be accessible. Keep medications and essentials in your personal bag (5 kilograms / 11 pounds). Cabins aboard the climber are small. So are the ship's. Consider the climb practice.

• Cold-weather clothing will not be required at the anchorage or aboard ship. Clothing worn or carried for travel is not charged against your allowance.

• Biosecurity. The Jens Andersen is a closed ecology. Everything crossing the airlock is inspected. Organic materials are treated before boarding. Approved plants travel bare-root; growing medium may not be brought aboard. If approved, the ship will repot your plant.

• Quarantine. On arrival, your arrival cohort will spend its first two to three weeks in the quarantine facility before joining the ship's general population. The ship's ecology is closed; so is its epidemiology. The only illnesses aboard will be the ones we carry up ourselves, and we intend to carry none. Your group is released together when your group is clear. A member of the medical staff will see each of you within a day of arrival to review and refill your medications; the ship's pharmacy carries them thereafter.

• Discretion. The Selection Office recommends discretion regarding your selection status until boarding.

• Ship's economy. You will be issued a number of credits upon boarding, and a monthly family stipend thereafter. Credits can be used to purchase things from the community Exchange, or from Fabrication directly.

• The shakedown cruise. The ship remains attached to the elevator for approximately five years before Departure from Earth. The purpose of the shakedown is to determine whether you and your household can tolerate ship life and to address any issues with the spacecraft which crop up. It cannot determine your suitability if you do not walk the walk. Full-time residence aboard is required, with very few exceptions.

• Colonists may withdraw at any time prior to Departure. Vacated berths are filled from the alternate list. Unless you are leaving the ship permanently, trips down to Earth require authorization from the command staff and payment of 1000 credits per person. Exceptions may be made in emergency circumstances. If you do leave and return, another period of quarantine will be required.

• Before you travel. Bring a one-month supply of any medications you take, allowing for delays in travel, ascent, and quarantine; carry them in your personal bag. A formulary of medications the pharmacy carries is available from the Selection Liaison Officer on request. Personal data storage is not charged against your allowance, and the ship's archive is generous. Scan your photographs, your letters, your recipes, your recordings. Mass (weight) is the only thing we ration.

• Your first days aboard after quarantine. You will be measured for a uniform, shown your cabin, and given an orientation schedule. Work assignments begin when your department is ready for you. School begins sooner. Children adjust faster than you will.
